The current budgeting environment is unlike any most not-for-profits have experienced before. Given great uncertainty, your organization may want to take a different approach to budgeting. With a rolling budget, you can set periodic dates (such as quarterly) to readjust your numbers. A more dramatic approach may be needed if, for example, you lose a major grant or find serious inaccuracies in your fixed budget. With reforecasting, you determine variable costs and revenues and the effect a trigger event (such as a pandemic) might have on them.
